Warning: This coffee does not taste like decaf. This coffee tastes like sweet and crispy berries and chocolate. This coffee is best suited for a digestif after dinner as an evening dessert. Or as an excuse to have more coffee than usual without the caffeine issues.

There’s a road that leads up to where we are now––a looong, way less traveled, winding, veering one––and it’s that way for a reason. Why? Because the coffee’s just that much better at the end of it.

Sun Blood decaf comes from Inzá, a town located deep within the interior of the Cauca department of Colombia. To get to Inzá, you first have to fly from Colombia's capital, Bogotá, to either Popayan, or La Plata, and then if you're lucky, you can reach Inzá by car within two hours. This is if the roads are not closed due to frequent mudslides. What makes this hard to access location so special are the high altitudes that coffee is grown in, along with the heirloom varieties that comprise Sun Blood. In the last couple of decades, Colombian farmers have rightfully favored planting disease resistant varieties such as Colombia and Castillo instead of heirlooms such as Caturra and Typica, which yield better tasting coffee. The farmers who produced Sun Blood largely grow and harvest Caturra, which is one of the many reasons this decaf tastes so much better than... well, decaf.

We hope you will indulge in the fruits of all the labor that went into the producing, sourcing, selecting, and roasting of this rare find. Speaking of fruit, here’s our first batch: a burst of berries followed by a sweet and lingering finish.

It's yours.

If you want it.
